Archaeological monitoring and subsequent excavation were carried out at Augustine Street Block 1 over a period of nine weeks. A number of red brick-lined post-medieval pits and drains were found to overlay extended inhumations, which in turn overlay medieval pits.

Post-medieval pottery, clay pipes, medieval pottery, leather fragments, glass sherds, coins, a balance and pointer, a thimble, coffin nails, worked timbers and animal and human bone were all recovered from the site. Phase 1 of the excavations has been completed and Phase 2 is ongoing.
