Excavations have been carried out on the greater part of this site by Alan Hayden (see no. 50 below); a small area at the south-east corner of the site was tested by the writer, prior to the digging of piles. Basements had removed fill down to a depth of 3m below the present ground level so that nothing of archaeological interest had survived.
