Four test bores, taken here in advance of development, revealed that a maximum of 2.9m of archaeological deposits survive on the site. A sherd of 13th-century Ham Green pottery recovered from the upper levels of the deposits indicates a pre- 13th-century date for the bulk of the remains. The work was carried out between December 1989 and January 1990 and was funded by the developer. Further excavation is planned for the site.
