Topsoil-stripping during monitoring of a Bord Gáis pipeline revealed a burnt spread at the junction of the topsoil and natural subsoil. The spread covered an area of 1.5m2 that lay within a shallow, subrectangular pit. The fill consisted of charcoal-rich soil over a burnt soil base. No artefacts were recovered from the site that could have indicated its age.
