This was one of a series of archaeological investigations carried out on the proposed route of the N9 Realignment at Moone-Timolin-Ballitore Hill. An irregularity in a field boundary, partly enclosing a circular area, was noted in the initial paper survey. It was not on the line of the proposed road, but a series of ten cuttings, measuring 10m by 1.8m, was mechanically excavated along the line of the road. Nothing of archaeological significance was found in any of the cuttings, and the field boundary proved to be a hedge enclosing a disused sandpit.
